Butterfly SanctuaryThe Australian Butterfly Sanctuary's 3666 cubic metre aviary is home to over 1500 magnificent tropical butterflies, all local to the area, including the electric blue Ulysses butterfly and the largest butterfly in Australia, the Cairns or Australian Birdwing. Barron Gorge National ParkRugged mountain scenery, steep ravines, tumbling waterfalls, rich wildlife and tropical rainforest make Barron Gorge one of Queensland's most popular and picturesque parks. The park has the most accessible rainforest close to Cairns. Open woodland, grassland and heath also grow in the park.
