​​​​​​​​​​​​Freshwater Connection is a popular departure point situated in the nearby suburb of Freshwater with views of the surrounding mountains. In 1984 Freshwater Connection was built as a tribute to the visionaries and pioneers who built the Kuranda Scenic Railway between 1887 and 1891.​

Redlynch Cottage has undergone repairs to the roof, flooring and exterior cladding as well as a repaint of interior surfaces.
